PLEDGING KAPPA PSI 2013
WHAT IS PLEDGING?
Pledging is a process that will take about 3 months.

It starts from the day you get pinned (September 4th) and lasts until the day you get initiated (November 15).

KY has a NO HAZING policy.
REQUIREMENTS
Attend 3 social events
(Nerd night, Halloween party, game night, progressive dinner, etc.
These are events taking place after the pinning ceremony)

2 PCA hours
UPCOMING FALL SOCIAL EVENTS
Toga Party
Labor Day Cookout & Pool Party
Nerd Night
Halloween Party
Paintballing (dependent on PDC)
Progressive Dinner
Game (and maybe Movie) Night
Maskarade (to celebrate induction)

and a MANDATORY scavenger hunt

PCA and volunteer events will be announced through email when the time comes.
MEETINGS & DUES
$120 annually
(talk to an officer for per semester payment)
Due by
October 4th
to any of the officers.

There will be 5 meetings this semester (don't worry, we planned them around exam days).

The meetings will have a written quiz at the end. These quizzes will be over material given to you in advance about Kappa Psi and it's history.
PLEDGE FAMILIES
This year, we will be dividing up the pledge class into smaller families to promote brotherhood between all members..

We will play games and have ice breakers at every meeting, so this will be a fun way for families to compete with each other.

Families will be rotated once about halfway through the pledging process.
SPEED SIBBING
August 29th - PAC 1110 - 5pm
This is an event to determine big and little pairings. You'll get about 1 minute to talk to a P2, then we'll rotate until you've had the chance to meet everyone. You will then get to list your top 3 choices for a big.

This event is required for those who wish to pledge KY, or else a random big will be assigned.
in addition...
As a pledge class, you all will have to get together and plan ONE COMMUNITY SERVICE project and ONE FUNDRAISING project.

This will be headed by the elected pledge class president.
Pledging is a learning period where you "pledge" loyalty to the fraternity through tentative membership. Your pledge education consists of learning about the history, ideas, and rituals of Kappa Psi. In addition, you will experience fellowship among one another.
Point System
You need a minimum number of points in order to cross.

Built around the quizzes, social events attended, PCA hours done, and the community and fundraiser projects. In addition, you can earn extra points (volunteering, winning ice breakers, etc), but you can also lose points by not wearing your pin.
