812 What is Sinusitis? Transmission Affects on the Body Treatments & Cures Symptoms of Sinusitis Surgeries To Prevent Chronic
Sinusitis -Sinusitis is the inflammation of sinuses and nasal passage
-We have eight sinuses as shown in the diagram below: -No one can catch sinusitis infection from another person.
-But the viruses and bacteria that cause colds and other respiratory infections that can trigger sinusitis may spread from one person to another are drops of fluids from one person to another by sneezing or coughing. When you have sinusitis you are likely to experience:
-Bad breath -A headache when you
-loss of smell wake up or bend down
-cough (often worse at night)
-stuffy/runny nose -A fever greater than 39°c
-pressure in your head
-Pain across cheekbone & under/around the eye
If cold symptoms last more than 10 days . sinusitis is present -Sinus trouble is dangerous because it may serve as the centre of infection that may spread to the eye or brain
-Elderly people are at a specific isk for sinusitis because their nasal passage end to dry out with age
-Decongestants should not be used for children under the age of 14 since they are at risk for central nervous system side affects like death -Home remedies like applying a warm moist cloth to the face several times and drinking plenty of water to moisten the mucus can be very useful
-Successful therapy may also reduce symptoms of chronic aches that accompany sinusitis pains and fatigue that often accompany sinusitis
-The primary objective for treatment of sinusitis are reducing of swelling, eradication of infection,draining of the sinuses and ensuring that the sinuses remain open -Surgery is requires when a patient fails to respond to medication and continues to have symptoms
-Sometimes surgery may be used to remove the abnormal sinus membrane -Sinusitis is a bacterial disease
-Acute sinusitis is cause by bacterias
called Streptococcus pneumoniae, Hacmophilus influenza and Maraxella catarhallis. What kind of disease is it? Is Sinusitis Contagious? -Since colds often trigger sinusitis a very common method for
transmitting a cold is by shaking hands
