The capital
The capital and the largest city's name is Jackson. It located south of the Yazoo river. The city has nearly 530 000 inhabitants. it have a lot of sport arenas. The capital have a very big airport.
Famous peoples
Elvis Presley was born in Tupelo in Mississippi 1935. He died 1977 in Tennessee. He is a very famous rock singer. He sold over one billion records all over the world.
Oprah Winfrey is also from Mississippi. She was born in 1954. She is a famous media proprietor, talk show host, actress, producer, and philanthropist.
Interesting fact
50 % of the inhabitants lives in the cities.
Mississippi has 2 airports, one in Jackson and one in Gulfport.
Mississippi grow much cotton and soybeans.
It lives 3 000 000 inhabitants in Mississippi.
Geography
Mississippi is located north by Tennessee, east by Albama, south by Louisiana and a narrow coast on the Gulf of Mexico.


The largest lake in Mississippi is Sardis Lake. The highest point is 246 meters above sea level and the name is Woodall Mountain.
The climate here is humid subtropical climate, with long summers and short, mild winters. On the summers, it is about 34 degrees and in the winters it`s about 9 degrees.
Tourism
Mississippi has a lot of fishing, golf, swimming, great nature and culture experiences.
Mississippi has the highest teenage birth rate in the USA. National dish is pan fried catfish.
History
Mississippi became a territory 1798 and become a state 1817.This made Mississippi one of America's most distinctive slave states and joined the Confederacy in 1861. In 1870 regained Mississippi its place in the Union, but in 1890 adopted a constitution which deprived the blacks almost all civil rights. Only in the 1960s could segregation be broken.

Sweden has a colder climate then Mississippi because it is located
more north than Mississippi.
