Reaching the Goal "Formative is in formative feedback to learners, while they still are learning the topic.
To be truely formative, this information must be used by the learner to improve.
Learners can formatively assess themselves and each other" (Petty, 2009)

preparing for summative assessment Summative Assessment Takes place at the end of a Unit/ module or task
It shows the competence of the learner
Methods that can be used are as followed:
- Direct observation
- Witness testimony
- Oral Questions
- Case studies / assignments/ Tests
Different awarding bodies will have a variation of assessment critria, some have pass, merit and distinction and others have unit completion.
