Paid or Not? Reasons Why College Athletes Should Get Paid Why Shouldn't College
Athletes Get Paid? "Pay for Play" is an argument on whether or not college athletes should be paid. People that believe that "Pay for Play" is true base their thoughts on about how the NCAA exists. The NCAA won't let athletes take any sponsorships or money from any companies like Nike or Adidas if they want to take a scholarships. Allan Guei one direction<3 Citations My Opinion Many people believe that the scholarship most college athletes have is payment enough. If the colleges start to pay the athletes, the amount of money they pay the athletes will start going up. The athletes are there for an education, not to get paid for playing sports. Only 2% of football players get drafted. There are many things that need to be thought about when you are thinking about paying college athletes. Colleges receive a large amounts of money from their athletic programs. Many colleges make millions from the athletes. Smaller schools won't be able to pay their athletes, that might be as good or better than others, as much as the other schools will be able to. Athletes bring in millions in revenue. I personally think that college athletes should be paid. Reasons I think college athletes should get paid: 1. They spend as much time, or even more, practicing, playing, and traveling to their games as they do in class and studying. 2. All the money they bring to the school is given to the coaches and help pay for the other sports at their school. 3. They work very hard balancing between practices and games and all their classes and schoolwork. http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/2004-08-31-pros-cons-pay_x.htm http://www.get2theleague.com/should-college-athletes-be-paid-pros-and-cons-of-each-perspective/ http://1045theteam.com/college-athletes-shouldnt-get-paid/ http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/paul_daugherty/01/20/no.pay/index.html http://www.google.com/imghp?hl=en&tab=wi So what do you think?
