Getting to
know
me.....
Debbie Lindblad This is me a few years ago, about to embark on the next leg of my educational journey. A lot has happened in my life between those two pictures. I married my wonderful husband of 27 years and we had two terrific children. I was blessed to stay at home with my children and enjoyed being able to volunteer full time in their elementary school. A return to the workforce did not come until 2004 with a job as a media clerk. This is the middle school where I have worked since 2004. Oglethorpe Charter School, formerly Oglethorpe Academy, opened in 1999 as the first start-up charter school in Georgia. It serves students in grades six through eight. I was originally hired as the media clerk, but have always run the Library Media Center alone. I have worked as the Library Media Specialist with a provisional certificate since the Fall of 2009. I enjoy working with middle schoolers, but some days it seems that they teach me more than I teach them! I hope to continue working as a Library Media Specialist until I retire, ideally at the same school. As I continue with my education, I look forward to learning as much as I can about technology and teaching so that I can share what I've learned with my school family. This is a picture of me in first grade, at the beginning of my educational journey. My educational journey has been a broken road. I finished one year of core classes at Armstrong Atlantic State University immediately after high school and did not continue, but, instead, got married. I finished my BS in Sociology at Troy University during the summer of 2009. I am now working on completing my masters degree in Instructional Technology at Georgia Southern University to obtain my Media Specialist Certification. Thank you for viewing.
