Short clip on how grasshopper camouflage.. :) Some facts on grasshopper The coloring of different species of grasshopper are often dependent on environment. Many species are adapted to green fields and forests, and blend in well there to avoid predators. Others have adapted to drier, sandy environments and blend in well with the colors of dry dirt and sand. Camouflaging Types of Grasshopper There are about 11,000 species of grasshopper that have been validated, although the number is thought to be closer to 2,400 existent species, as many species are yet to be described or even discovered, especially those in tropical wet forests. The Commons ones are the.... Long-horned Grasshopper and Short-horned Grasshopper. Differences between this two Grasshopper..... Long-horned Grasshopper have antennae, or feelers, about the same length as the body. Short horned grasshopper have antennae less than half the length of the body. Short-horned grasshoppers are often called locusts, particularly when they migrate. Green Snakes How it camouflages have green pigment on their skin, Which allow it to blend with the surrounding. In nature, predators and prey seem to play a game of hide and-seek. Prey need to hide, so predators do not find them and
eat them. Predators need to hide too, so smaller prey cannot
see them approaching. Some animals have special colors or
marks on their bodies that help them hide among trees, rocks,
and grass. This blending is called camouflage. The snake's shape
and color help it hide among
the green forest leaves. Is Green Snake poisonous? Nope, they are not poisonous. What do they feed on? They feed on insects and spiders African Lions How it camouflages? African lions have a tan body coloring. to hide in savanna grasses while
watching for prey. A lion can sneak up on prey without being
seen more easily by blending into the grassy environment. Why is camouflaging important to African Lion? The lion's camouflage is important to the lion because they use the tall grass for hiding from their prey. So they crouch down into the tall grass and wait for the right moment to attack and kill their prey. Polar Bear How it camouflage? The white color of their fur blends in with the snow and ice of their natural habitat.
They do use their fur's camouflaged coloring to blend with the snow to their best advantage. They don't exactly sneak up on their prey, but it helps approach and be less noticed. Polar Bears will stalk their prey, and many of their adaptions for living in their environment are useful when it comes to hunting, including their fur color. HOW THEY ADAPT?? The polar bear has a very cold environment and their environment is clean. But the cold weather doesn't bother the polar bears because they are made for the cold weather because of the layer of fat, black skin, and white fur helps it adjust to its environment. The white fur helps the polar bear adjust better by keeping the polar bear camouflaged. A SHORT CLIP OF POLAR BEAR CAMOUFLAGING.... Tigers How it camouflages? Tiger stripes are all patterns which help these cats hide among the plants and shadows when they search for prey. Tigers are carnivores as they feed on animals. How many tigers are there in this world? It is estimated, currently the total is between 3000 and 4000. Some of the tigers are.... Bengal Tiger
Indochinese Tigers
South Chinese Tiger
Siberian Tiger
Sumatran Tiger
Malayan Tiger
White Tiger
Tasmanian Tiger And many more...... Praying Mantis How it camouflage? While its green to brown color helps it blend in with vegetation, the mantis also mimics the shape of a stem or leaf. The mantis uses these camouflage methods both to hide from predators like birds, frogs, snakes, spiders and bats, and to await prey such as insects (including other mantises), spiders, hummingbirds, and small frogs and mice. Why is it named " Praying Mantis" ? The praying mantis is named for its prominent front legs, which are bent and held together at an angle that suggests the position of prayer. Is Praying Mantis poisonous? No, the praying mantis are not poisonous. They do have sharp spikes on their forelegs which they can use to strike with if harassed. For the most part, they are pretty safe to handle. If you notice them standing on their back legs and getting into a defensive position, then you know are they getting ready to strike. 2. Algae Tadpole Dragonfly Nymph Water Stick Insect (7) Write on 2 animals which are considered endangered species. Design a " Save the _____" badge for one of them. SNOW LEOPARD Snow leopards can be found in the mountain ranges of Central Asia. They weigh between 27kg to 55kg. Large male weighs up to 75 kg while small females can weigh under 25 kg. Their body length ranges from 75 cm to 130 cm. The snow leopard have a long thick fur. Their body are stocky and they have small ears to minimize heat loss. They have wide paws to walk better on snow and have fur on their undersides to increase their grip. Snow leopards can't roar. SAVE THE SNOW LEOPARD! I'M ENDANGERED ! S A V E M E 3. They have a stocky and muscular build , black fur, pungent odour. The Tasmanian devil is extremely loud and has a disturbing screech. It also has a keen sense of smell. The Tasmanian Devil has a large neck and head allowing it to generate a strongest bite. The Tasmanian Devil can be found in Tasmania Australia. Tasmanian Devil were seen as a life stock. Humans wanted their fur therefore they are being hunted. 9)Observations of PREDATOR and its different PREYS Most Of the organisms hunt in pairs to have a higher chance of finding their prey A HUGE A common wood spider Peacock Butterfly Western Honeybee Hover Fly Ground Beetle list of organisms in the garden or park pETRINA IS CUTE 3) Make a list of the organisms you find in your school/Singapore Science Center EcoGarden.
