BIM 360 Field 101
This class is intended to give you an overview of how to get started in 360 Field.
We will cover:
how to login
how to sync (for the first time)
how to change your sync settings to reduce sync time
how to find your issues
how to look at the details
how to set the issue status when done so an inspection can be made
best practices
create account and sign into 360
360 iPad app screen
o Go to this site first:

https://accounts.autodesk.com/register
o Fill out the page to create an AutoDesk ID. I recommend using your email address as the AutoDesk ID. That will line it up with the 360 account and make it easier to keep up with.
Then you will use
your work email
and the
password from your AutoDesk ID
to login at
manage.velasystems.com
During the login, the project list will show what projects you are connected to. Most of you will only have the FBMACH project listed.

Once you are logged in the first time, you will need to sync the project data.
The first time takes several hours, so we recommend doing it after work from home or plan to leave the iPad at the office overnight to download the data
.

We also recommend plugging the iPad in; the sync process can really drain the battery.
Sync settings - which ones to choose
The Sync box is divided into two parts:

The top half is the stuff you will upload to the project. As you work on issues or punch list items you will have these items to upload when work is complete for Turner to review.

The bottom half is data to be downloaded from the project central database. We will look at the settings of this part of the box more closely. There are items that some of you will not need and turning them off will save you time.
Sync box - breakdown
The main menu of 360 with the list of functions
The menu in this screenshot is the 'subcontractor' user account view. It has three functions.

Issues
- outstanding work, sub-standard work, damage, etc observed in the field and assigned to a company.

Tasks - scheduled or planned future assignments

Photos - pictures taken with the camera button added to 360
There are several groups of things to sync.

Library - documents and drawings for use in locating issues and tasks.

Issues - outstanding work, sub-standard work, damage, etc observed in the field and assigned to a company.

Checklists - lists of questions, text boxes and pull down lists used in QA/QC, Commissioning, and Inspections.

Equipment - a database of equipment related to the project- boilers, HVAC, fans, doors, fire extinguishers, etc

Tasks - scheduled or planned future assignments
Some of you will only need a few of these groups of data. The next slide will show how to turn off the things you do not need to speed up the sync process
Sync settings
Here are two examples of the settings for downloading Issues and Tasks.

Your user account should filter both categories down to only issues assigned to your company, but you may need to only pull the ones assigned to you.
Other functions
The 360 iPad app has a few other features that are useful.

Level - a simple level bubble
Notebook- a basic note app within 360.
Barcode scanner - a good bar and QR code scanner (we are using QR code labels on the door frames for tracking and issues)

Camera - the camera function will add photos into 360 and allow you to attach them to an existing issue or create a new one.
We would recommend using 'All Unresolved Issues' and 'My Unresolved Tasks' as defaults at first.
Some issues may be assigned to one contractor, but have parts of the issue that relate to another company.

Complete 360 menu
Some of you will see the full menu. The screenshot below shows this function set.

Library - documents and drawings for use in locating issues and tasks.

Photos - pictures on your iPad including ones taken as part of 360
Questions and Feedback?
Above all, Have Patience. sometimes the sync gets stuck. Sometimes the WiFi drops.
You may feel like this at first.
But after a little time getting comfortable with 360, you will feel like this.
Thank you for coming.
Select 'Issues' from the menu.

Set a location at the top to filter the issues to the area that you will work in.
Shown above is a Pin map view of issues. These issues have been added or attached to a floorplan sheet to help track and communicate the issue.
Either from the List view or the Pin view select an issue from the list. The pop-up box lists the details of the selected issue. Scroll up and down to see all the details.
The view at the right shows a List view of issues.
The Pins on the right end of issues indicate that they are located on a map.
The view on the left shows some of the details for issue #001405
On the right is a view of the Attachment panel. It shows an attachment of one photo for this issue.

The Details, Pin map, and Attached photo together define the issue, locate it, and assign it to a company to be addressed
Best Practices
Daily procedure steps:
Sync first thing in the morning
Head out to the field to track down issues and address them that have been selected as the workplan for the day
iPad app is standalone; it does not need an internet connection to operate; just to sync the data.
Mark issues that are finished as 'Work Complete'
Sync again at the end of the day back in the office or at home. Sync EVERY DAY at least once; the end of the day is a good time so everyone starts the day with up to date information.

Questions ?
The web site login is the most useful for entering or editing a lot of information.

It is also where you can sort and filter issues or tasks assigned to you for work planning.
Questions ?
iPad Tip
: If you have calluses on your finger tips, the iPad screen may not read them. Use the side of your finger where the skin is less rough or have a stylus you can use.
