3100 BC - 332 BC "Ancient Egypt" is established and Pharaohs reigned the land
332 BC - 30 BC Handover of Egypt to Alexander the Great and then the Romans
640 AD Amr Ibn al Aas takes over and leads an Islamic Egypt (During this time many people converted to Islam)
1517 AD Islamic government falls
1914 AD Great Britain takes control of Egypt as a protectorate
1922 AD Egypt declares Independence from GB and Faud I becomes King
1952 The Egyptian Army seizes power and Gamal Abder Nasser becomes president
1967 Israeli troops occupy Egypt's Sinai Peninsula
1970 President Nasser dies
1978 Israel returns the Sinai Peninsula to Egypt in return for peace
1981 Hosni Mubarak Becomes president

2011 Hosni Mubarak Finally retires due to protests making him the longest standing one of his kind
- Republicanism, with a semi-presidential system

- In 2011, executive power was assumed by the
Supreme Council of the Armed Forces.
- In 2012, Mohamed Morsi was elected as Egypt's fifth president .

-General Abdel Fattah el-Sisi who was subsequently elected as Egypt's sixth president in 2014.
