REQUIREMENTS & DUTIES
High school Diploma or G.E.D with 16 college credits.
Proficient in areas of nutrition, modified preparation and service, patient diet instruction, menu writing and have a wide variety of other functions associated with food service in hospitals.
You help air force personnel develop healthy eating habits and who need to lose weight in order to ensure our force is operating to its maximum potential. The healthier our airmen are the better.
As an American Airman, you do travel the world. You have a choice to choose where you would like to be stationed but those choices are not promised. First, you must go through Basic Training for 8 and a half weeks, which is in San Antonio, Texas at the Lackland Air Force Base. After Basic Training, every Airman goes to Technical Training to learn their career. In this case, The Technical Training for Diet Therapy is in Fort Sam, Houston Texas. The length of this course is 33 days. Once Tech School is squared away you will then receive your Dietetics and Nutrition degree with an amount of 8 college credits.
