Life of Ansel
Ansel was born on March 14, 1994 in New York City, NY to Arthur Elgort, a photographer who has worked for vogue, and Grethe Barret Holby, and opera director. He has two siblings Warren, a film director and Sophie, a photographer. At the age of nine he started studying at the School of American Ballet. He attended Trinity School in New York City which is a private school for grade K-12. He then attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School. By the age of 12 he was already taking acting class. He starred in his high school's production of Guys and Dolls. He also off-broadway play Regrets by Matt Charman. During the years of his youth, on March 15 U.S. troops were withdrawn from Somalia. Mary Ellen Withrow also began her term of office as Treasure of the United States, serving under president Bill Clinton.
"I write music because I
love it. Sometimes more
than anything in the world."
"Most actors nowadays are models turned actors. That's why a lot of young actors are terrible. You have to learn how to act. It is not something that you can just do."
Ansel's fathers name is Arthur Elgort who is a photographer. His mother, Grethe Barret Holby, is an opera director. He has two siblings Warren, a film editor and Sophie, a photographer. His Norwegian grandmother, Aase-Grethe, was in the Norwegian resistance during World War II, and saved Norwegian Jewish children by moving them into Sweden; because of her actions, she was imprisoned at a concentration camp.
After The Fame
Since filming his first movie, Ansel has gained lots of fans and publicity. He has also gotten more opportunities and offers. After finishing The Fault In Our Stars, Divergent, and Carrie Ansel accepted the role in a new comedy film
Men, Women & Children.
Other than acting Ansel also DJs and produces dance/house music under the name of Ansolo. He has remixed songs such as Lana Del Ray's Born To Die. He loves music and says it is his second passion. In a February 2014 live stream, he announced that he was signed a record deal with Starr Traxx and is working on his own original songs. His first record "Unite" was released onto Beatport on April 16 and on iTunes on May 5.
Ansel has been modeling since a young age. He started at the age of 15 in 2009 for Teen Vogue. Since then he has done shoots for magazines with his sister and dad who are professional photographers. For a charity event at his old school, he modeled in a calendar called "The 12 Months of Ansel." He also modeled in 7000 magazine. He was a part of Teens Vogues Young Hollywood photo shoot in September 2013 and has also worked with Flaunt, Seventeen, Elle and Rolling Stone.
Although Ansel's career is far from being over, he has accomplished much. Sadly, he is currently in a long-term relationship with Violetta Komyshan, a dancer who he met in high school. He now resides in an apartment located in New York City.
Problems He Faced
The biggest problem that Ansel had to face was bullying in High School. He overcame this by turning the other cheek and walking away from the bully. I also had trouble getting his carreer started. It took him all of high school to first get his big break in the 2013 film remake of Carrie.
