Supernatural Intervention
What is Supernatural Intervention?
Supernatural Intervention is when the God's are sometimes on their side and sometimes not.
The Odyssey
In the Odyssey an example of Supernatural Intervention is with Odysseus and Poseidon. Poseidon is against Odysseus. For example, in book 5 Poseidon makes Odysseus's ship wreck after he was at sea for 18 days.
Also in the Odyssey, Athena is with Odysseus. Multiple times throughout the story Athena is there to help Odysseus and accompanies him through some parts of his journey.
Percy Jackson the Lightning Thief
In Percy Jackson, the son of Hermes is against Percy. The son of Hermes sabotages many parts of his journey and frames him for stealing Zeus's lightning bolt. A character that is on Percy's side is Poseidon (his father). He guides him to do many things and watches out for him.
Compare/Contrast
One thing that's different from the Odyssey and Percy Jackson the lightning thief is the role of Poseidon. In the Odyssey you see Poseidon is against Odysseus and Poseidon supports Percy in Percy Jackson. One thing that is similar, is Athena in the Odyssey and Poseidon in Percy Jackson. They both watch out and protect the main character.
