Transcript of Ghost Pepper

The Bhut Jolokia — also known as Ghost Pepper has been around for many centuries and it is believed to have originated in Assam, India. The word Bhut, given from the Bhutias people, means "ghost" and was probably given the name because of the way the heat sneaks up on the one who eats it. It was only introduced to the western world in 2000.
Why it is called "Ghost Pepper"?
Ghost pepper has been tested to have over 1,001,300 Scoville heat units (a test scale to check the "heat" of the spiciness)! Almost twice as hot as the old champ, the Red Savina Habanero.

As compared to ghost pepper which has 855,000 - 1,050,000 scoville scale. Pimento, Pepperoncini only have 100 - 500, Bell pepper has no heat and the common Jalapeño Pepper has 2,500 - 8,000.

After you eat, your tongue is really really intense, you will have tears in the eyes, want to vomit. The fiery burning can last for more than an hour. Since peppers are oil based, water can't help reducing the effects. Milk is a suggestion to recover from the effects. The Ghost Pepper (Bhut Jolokia) is 401.5 times hotter than Tabasco sauce
