a form of graffiti that uses stencils made out of paper, cardboard, or other media to create an image or text that is easily reproducible.
stencil graffiti began in the 1960s
John Fekner Wheels Over Indian Trails 1979-1990. Pulaski Bridge near the Queens Midtown Tunnel Spray paint on concrete. Long Island City, NY.

an international street artist who has deliberately chosen to keep his identity concealed
Above began painting graffiti by tagging (writing his ABOVE graffiti signature) on freight trains in California in 1995.
During the past 16 years Above has painted artworks in the streets of 100+ cities in 60+ different countries around the world!!
Blek le Rat
one of the first graffiti artists in Paris, and has been described as the "Father of stencil graffiti"
big inspiration to. . .
He is credited with being the inventor of the life-sized stencil, as well as the first to transform stencil from basic lettering into pictorial art
United Kingdom-based graffiti artist, political activist, film director, and painter.
Early 90s
By 2000 he had turned to the art of stencilling after realising how much less time it took to complete a work. He claims he changed to stencilling while he was hiding from the police under a rubbish lorry. .

step four: spray paint!
