Mars Pathfinder the base station that landed on Mars on July 4, 1997 with Mars rover Sojourner. It was launched on December 4, 1996 on a Delta II booster. Sojourner and Pathfinder explored and took multiple pictures of Mars.
What was the Pathfinder and Sojourner equipped with?
The Pathfinder and Sojourner were equipped with multiple cameras and many other things that will help it explore. It had a device that would detect any hazards like strong winds or other things that can destroy the robot. It also has other things that can analyze the soil on mars and more.
Pathfinder and Sojourner were launched December 4, 1996. The entire mission lasted 297 days since it was launched to its last data transmission. The last data transmission that NASA received was on September 27, 1997. It was a surprise that the Pathfinder and Sojourner lasted this long because they were not programmed to work for a long time but it did which impressed a lot of people around the world.
