"Law of the Soil" jus sanguinis If your born on U.S territory your an American Citizen " Law of the blood" being born in the U.S. makes you a citizen If your parents are U.S citizens then you are one too Citizenship by naturalization a naturalized citizen is a foreigner who is granted citizenship in the United States after fulfilling certain requirements Individuals can (aliens) apply for citizenship People living in America that aren't U.S citizens are also known as "Aliens" There are 3 types of naturalization Act of congress

individual action Congress can make laws to naturalize a group of people Puerto rico is an U.S territory granting puerto ricans dual citizenship. Dual citizenship is being a citizen of two countries Once guaranteed citizenship they receive green cards
