Introduction Topic
Who do you really belong to?
Why are you here and what does God want for your life?
Do you believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God?
Why?/ Why not?
We all have a story, what is yours?
What will happen with you and your parents when you die?
Rom 6:1 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? 3 Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. 5 If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection.
Word
Jesus
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men.
Why were John and the disciples sure about Jesus existence?
Who is the "Word of life" really?
Where can we find the "Word of life" today?
Can you follow someone without knowing them?

The Seeking Ethiopian Eunuch
Act 8:26 Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, "Go south to the road--the desert road--that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza." 27 So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of the Kandake (which means "queen of the Ethiopians"). This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship, 28 and on his way home was sitting in his chariot reading the Book of Isaiah the prophet. 29 The Spirit told Philip, "Go to that chariot and stay near it." 30 Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. "Do you understand what you are reading?" Philip asked. 31 "How can I," he said, "unless someone explains it to me?" So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. 32 This is the passage of Scripture the eunuch was reading: "He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth. 33 In his humiliation he was deprived of justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth." 34 The eunuch asked Philip, "Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?" 35 Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus. 36 As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, "Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?" 38 And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. 39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing.

What did the Ethiopian do?
Why did the Ethiopian do this?
What assisted the Ethiopian?
What were his good qualities?
1Jn 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched--this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. 2 The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. 3 We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. 4 We write this to make our joy complete.

Luk_8:14 The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life's worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature.
Act 2:36 "Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah." 37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" 38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off--for all whom the Lord our God will call." 40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation." 41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.
Did Peter use the scriptures to convict their hearts? What did Peter accuse them of?
What were their response?
Are you as humble as the first conversions?
Act 7:54 When the members of the Sanhedrin heard this, they were furious and gnashed their teeth at him. 55 But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. 56 "Look," he said, "I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God." 57 At this they covered their ears and, yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at him, 58 dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. Meanwhile, the witnesses laid their coats at the feet of a young man named Saul. 59 While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit."
What did Stephen accuse them of?
Why did they respond this way?
Does your heart want to fight the truth?
Which scriptures don’t you like?
What can you do about it?
Act 24:24 Several days later Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish. He sent for Paul and listened to him as he spoke about faith in Christ Jesus. 25 As Paul talked about righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and said, "That's enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you."
Why do you think Felix became afraid?
How do you usually handle conflict?
Do you sometimes avoid the "God" topic?
What can you do to overcome your weaknesses?

Are you like the Ethiopian? Humble to learn?
How are you going to learn who Jesus is?
Do you have your own Bible?
Elementary
teachings

Why did Jesus come into the world?
How important is Jesus' words?
What will lead to eternal life?
Do you know the bible?
Are you attentive to what and how Jesus is saying it?
What can you do about it?
2Pe 3:16 He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.
How do we know if someone is ignorant?
How do we know if someone is unstable?
What is the consequence of ignorance and instability?
Do you understand all scriptures?
How can you prevent yourselves from being ignorant or unstable?
Berean Jews
Act 17:10 As soon as it was night, the brothers sent Paul and Silas away to Berea. On arriving there, they went to the Jewish synagogue. 11 Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. 12 Many of the Jews believed, as did also a number of prominent Greek women and many Greek men.
Who were the "more noble"?
Why were they "more noble"?
Practically, how did they examine Scripture?
Do you have Berean's qualities?
What can you do to be more like a Berean?
Do you check if your teachers' "teaching" agrees with the scriptures?
JN 8:31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
To whom was Jesus speaking?
How confident did the Jews feel about their faith?
Did their "faith" set them free?
List the steps they needed to take to be set free?
Should it first make sense before we obey?
When will it make sense what we do?
Are you willing to obey even if it does make sense?
MK 7:8 You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men." 9 And he said to them: "You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions!
Read: Mark 7:1-12
What traditions did the Jews perform that were not commanded?
Which of our traditions/ religious habits are conflicting with the scriptures?
What are controversial topics of today's society? Does the scriptures agree with those?
Mat 7:21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?' 23 Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'
How spiritual were the "everyone" Jesus talked about?
Where can we find the Father's will?
Does doing religious things please God?
Are you sure you know God's will?
Heb 6:1 Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, 2 instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. 3 And God permitting, we will do so.
What are the elementary teachings?
Do you really know your "elementary teachings"?
Are you able to teach others the "elementary teachings"?
Do you want to go on to maturity?
List some action points for you to grow to maturity!
Our Approach
This is a study approach to discover more about God, Jesus and the "word" without reading pages of some-one's opinion. I hope you will allow God to speak to you through his Spirit alone. Prayerfully continue with each study to include God.
The study follow a logical flow based on Heb 6:1-2 and scriptures that I though may be relevant to the topic. The topics build on each other but you are free to navigate to any topics that may interest you.
The best way to study the scriptures is with some-one that can assist you with your journey. If you don't know anybody you can contact me so that I can work something out for you. There is always someone that can talk with you on Skype.
If you are a disciple you can use these studies to help some-one else.
Read the scripture in your Bible.
Be honest and truthful with yourself.
This is a Tip to the topic.

Bereans in Acts
Jn 12:47-50
Mat 7:24 "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."
What/ Who is the rock?
Do you believe all the scripture are God inspired?
Are you willing to obey Jesus' teaching? Even if it "hurts", "you don't understand it" or "if it is not popular"!
Key concepts and question
Joh_14:12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
Joh 13:34 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
Do you know God?
Do you know what God wants for your life?
Do you know what Jesus has been doing?

Baptism Commanded
Mat 28:18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Who is a candidate for baptism?
How should they be baptized?
Are you baptized as a disciple of Jesus Christ?
Act 2:36 "Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ." 37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" 38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call." 40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation." 41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.
First century conversions
When do we connect with Jesus' blood so that we can receive forgiveness of our sins?
When do we start our new lives in Christ?
Read: Acts 22:6-16
Paul's conversion
Act 22:16 And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.'
When did Paul come to faith in Jesus Christ?
Did Paul's encounter with Jesus save him?
Did the healing on Paul save him?
Did Paul's fasting saved him?
When was Paul saved?
Did you do everything to be saved the Bible way?
Can you trust the teachers today?
Luk 7:30 But the Pharisees and experts in the law rejected God's purpose for themselves, because they had not been baptized by John.
Why is baptism such a controversial issue?
What is the best strategy Satan could follow to mislead us?
Baptism Definition
Greek - BAPTIZŌ
to dip repeatedly, to immerse, to submerge (of vessels sunk)
to cleanse by dipping or submerging, to wash, to make clean with water, to wash one's self, bathe
to overwhelm
Salvation Point
Mar 16:16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
1Pe 3:21 and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
Tit 3:5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,
Church roles
Greatest gift
is Love
1Co 13:1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Joh 11:25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; 26 and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" 27 "Yes, Lord," she told him, "I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world."
Promised by Jesus
Do you believe that God will resurrect you on the last day?
Joh 6:40 For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day."
Taught by Paul
Rom 8:11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.
Do you have the Spirit of Jesus in you?
Do you teach the message of hope to others like Paul?
Jesus' Resurrection
Read: Luke 24:1-53
Luk 24:5 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead?
How many witnesses were there of Jesus' resurrection?
Does your life show that you focus on the preparation of eternal life for yourself and others?
Jesus Christ
Joh 5:22 Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, 23 that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.
Act 10:42 He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead.
The Words of Jesus
Joh 12:47 "As for the person who hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save it. 48 There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day.

Why did Jesus really come?
Would it be fair to judge some-one without providing him with the criteria?
What can condemn us?
Isa 11:1 A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. 2 The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD— 3 and he will delight in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears; 4 but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked. 5 Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist.
Fair judge?
What gives God the right to be the judge?
Does God intend to be a fair judge?
Do you trust the judge?
Word from the author:
I don't claim to be somebody but only wish to help others to find the truth. My life is full of errors from which I hope to learn from. Most of all, I am dependent on the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ to stand. I therefore have nothing to boast about and I am neither eloquent in speech.

Please give me any feedback and encourage me with your story. Feel free to invite anybody that can benefit from this tool. Try and learn the bible yourself while you help others to grow in their faith.

If you need support please contact me so that I can arrange something for you. Also let me know if you see errors or if you have suggestions.

The judge
Mar 16:15 He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."
The counselor left for the Disciples
Joh 14:16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

Act 6:5 This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit; also Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to Judaism. 6 They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them.

Luk 18:15 People were also bringing babies to Jesus for him to place his hands on them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. 16 But Jesus called the children to him and said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

Faith and False teaching
False Teaching about Baptism
False teaching the Holy Spirit
1Co 14:5 I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. He who prophesies is greater than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may be edified.
1Co 14:23 So if the whole church comes together and everyone speaks in tongues, and some who do not understand or some unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your mind?
Tongues and an Interpreter
1Co 14:27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, two—or at the most three—should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret. 28 If there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep quiet in the church and speak to himself and God.
If there are no one to interpret a tongue, what should the person do that speaks in a tongue?
Strangers and Tongues
What would tongues mean to some-one that does not understand?
1Co 14:19 But in the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue.
Deu 18:20 But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded him to say, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to death." 21 You may say to yourselves, "How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD?" 22 If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.
Presumptuous Prophet
How would you know if what preachers or prophets are saying is not from God?
(According to the Old Testament) What should happen with a prophets that speaks presumptuously from God?
How serious is God about speaking the truth as commanded?
How many Christian truths are there today?
Why are there so many Christian truths?
Are they all from God?
What did Jesus do with prophets or teachers that spoke lies?
Do you keep to everything in the scriptures?
1Co_14:26 What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, everyone has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. All of these must be done for the strengthening of the church.

1. There are many main teachings.
2. Teachings have many topics.
3. Each topic has key scripture(s)/ reference(s).
4. Scripture have general topic questions. If you read the scriptures carefully you will find the answers in your heart, soul and mind. We do not provide answers.
5. Each topic has life application questions. These questions are personal and challenging but helpful for your growth, if you are real and honest with yourself. No Pain .... No Gain.. :-)
Gifts has Seized
Jas 5:14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.
Who should heal the sick?
Did the gift of healing seize?
Was healing a big component of Jesus' ministry?
Act_19:13 Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, "In the name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out."
Did the apostles or Jesus give the pharisees and Jews special gifts?
How were they able to drive out demons?
Would it be possible for some-one today to drive out demons?
Would it be possible for God to work though his Holy Spirit today?
Is it possible for a christian church to be lead by false apostles?
Are you willing to accept the instructions of God?
Why is this so hard to accept?
False Teachers
Do we need a Judge?
In Action
Luk 12:13 Someone in the crowd said to him, "Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me." 14 Jesus replied, "Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?" 15 Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions."

What role was Jesus expected to play here?
Did Jesus act reasonably as a "Judge" in this example?
Lev_19:15 "'Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the great, but judge your neighbor fairly.
Deu_1:16 And I charged your judges at that time, "Hear the disputes between your people and judge fairly, whether the case is between two Israelites or between an Israelite and a foreigner residing among you.
Psa_7:11 God is a righteous judge, a God who displays his wrath every day.
Pro_31:9 Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.
Isa_2:4 He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.
What does God's intentions look like?
Would you trust this Judge with your life?

Answer is always in the text or in yourself!
Looking at the text you should find:
1. "repentance from acts that lead to death"
2 "faith in God"
3. "instruction about baptisms"
4. "the laying on of hands"
5. "the resurrection of the dead"
6. "eternal judgment"
Work in Progress
The intention is for you to find the questions yourself. Usually it is not too hard. :-)
The heart questions require prayer, humility and introspection. The heart questions are tough because they are a test for your humility.

Wrong or right...just be honest with yourself and others. You will find that we all have similar weaknesses.

It will be hard for you if you are not supported by a friend, a friend that is not afraid to speak the truth and that loves God. Your friend will encourage you and keep you accountable to your own decision.

I still find these questions challenging but they are good for me.

Act 16:30 He then brought them out and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" 31 They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved--you and your household." 32 Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. 33 At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized. 34 The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God--he and his whole household.

Repentance
Sin
Lord Jesus Christ
Rev 4:7 The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle. 8 Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying: "'Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty,' who was, and is, and is to come."
What do you think you look like through the eyes of God?
Separated from a Holy God
Repentance about Jesus Christ?
What about sin?
I live a good life?
No one Righteous
Rom 3:10 As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one; 11 there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. 12 All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one."
How much sin do we need to do to be separated from Yahweh?
Does a small lie make us unholy before God?
Is one man more holy than the other?
Would you be able to stand before God based on your own holiness?
Obvious Sin
Subtle Sin
Gal 5:19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Who was this written for?
Define all the sin listed in the passage.
What do you think would happen with those who live like this?

Test yourself against the list.
Do you "live like this"?
1Co 6:9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Which of the sins mentioned are socially acceptable today?
What does it mean to be deceived?
Does God discriminate between drunkenness, adultery and homosexual sin?
Are we born with a tendency to do the sin mentioned above?
What is the consequence of such a lifestyle?
Are you willing to acknowledge and deal with your sin?
Are you willing to follow God's standard?
2Ti 3:1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.
Test yourself against this list.
Ask some-one that is truthful to tell you what they think about you.

Bold Repentance
What was most important to the believers?
How did they deal with their sin?
Holy, Holy, Holy
1Jn 2:1 My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
Live in the Light
Eph 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Do you think that "doing good" will offset the sin you have done/ are doing?

Worst physical abuse and finally death
Mat 27:46 About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?"—which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"
Mat 3:16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased."

Mat 27:27 Then the governor's soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company of soldiers around him. 28 They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, 29 and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand and knelt in front of him and mocked him. "Hail, king of the Jews!" they said. 30 They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again. 31 After they had mocked him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. Joh_14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Php 2:5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7 but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death— even death on a cross! 9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

False Teaching Repentance
2Jn 1:7 I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist. 8 Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully. 9 Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.

Faith in God
CONDITION
Can any man claim to be holy?
Heb 12:14 Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.
Are you Holy?
Can your deeds make you holy?
Ready to face God?
Rev 1:12 And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands, 13 and among the lampstands was someone like a son of man, dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. 14 The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. 15 His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. 16 In his right hand he held seven stars, and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance. 17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead.

Mat_6:30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
Do you believe God cares for you?
Joh 13:34 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
How did Jesus love us?
Why is this a new command?
If we love others what would our lives look like?
Are you willing to lay down you life for others?
Hint: Start serving people that are close to you.
Mat 28:18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. Christian or Disciple
Act 11:26 He found him there. Then he brought him to Antioch. For a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church. They taught large numbers of people. At Antioch the disciples were called Christians for the first time.
How many times does the word "Christian" appear in the bible? How many times does the word "Disciple" appear in the bible?
What was first, disciples or christians?
What is the difference between a disciple and a christian?
Why were they called "Christians"?
Mar 1:16 As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 17 "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."18 At once they left their nets and followed him. 19 When he had gone a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John in a boat, preparing their nets. 20 Without delay he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.
What did Jesus want to train his followers to do?
Why did they leave their father?
Why would it be so important to make such a radical change in their career?
Does your life look like that of a "fisher of men"?
Do you want to change the priorities of your life?

Luk 9:23 Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it. 25 What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self? 26 If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

The challenge to be a true disciple
Luk 9:57 Once Jesus and those who were with him were walking along the road. A man said to Jesus, "I will follow you no matter where you go." 58 Jesus replied, "Foxes have holes. Birds of the air have nests. But the Son of Man has no place to lay his head." 59 He said to another man, "Follow me." But the man replied, "Lord, first let me go and bury my father." 60 Jesus said to him, "Let dead people bury their own dead. You go and tell others about God's kingdom." 61 Still another man said, "I will follow you, Lord. But first let me go back and say good-by to my family." 62 Jesus replied, "Suppose you start to plow and then look back. If you do, you are not fit for service in God's kingdom."

Faith and Works
Eph 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Why were you created?
Do you think that you are fulfilling the purpose of your life?
Do you want to live the true purpose for your life?
Luk 10:1 After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. 2 He told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.
Where is the harvest today?
Why are there only a few workers?
1Jn 2:5 But if anyone obeys his word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: 6 Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.

Act 2:39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call." 40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation." 41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

Spirit lead
Act 8:26 Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, "Go south to the road—the desert road—that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza." 27 So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians. This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship, 28 and on his way home was sitting in his chariot reading the book of Isaiah the prophet. 29 The Spirit told Philip, "Go to that chariot and stay near it."
Are you willing to listen to God's spirit to spread the gospel?
Are you willing to spread the gospel wherever you go?
Did you really give up your life?
Joh 4:28 Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, 29 "Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?" 30 They came out of the town and made their way toward him.

Act 24:24 Several days later Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was a Jewess. He sent for Paul and listened to him as he spoke about faith in Christ Jesus. 25 As Paul discoursed on righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and said, "That's enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you."

Never give up
Luk_18:1 Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.

Gal 4:3 So also, when we were underage, we were in slavery under the elemental spiritual forces of the world. 4 But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. 6 Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "Abba, Father." 7 So you are no longer a slave, but God's child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.
Who does God want to be for you and me?
Rom 1:18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.

Where is it?
Joh 4:23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."
Dan 2:44 "In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever. 45 This is the meaning of the vision of the rock cut out of a mountain, but not by human hands—a rock that broke the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver and the gold to pieces. "The great God has shown the king what will take place in the future. The dream is true and the interpretation is trustworthy."
Mat 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Mat_13:44 "The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.

Joh 16:7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. 8 When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 about sin, because people do not believe in me; 10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11 and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.
Joh 14:26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

1Co 11:23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me." 25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me."

Topics
Tit 1:6 An elder must be blameless, faithful to his wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient. Tit 1:7 Since an overseer manages God's household, he must be blameless--not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. Tit 1:8 Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. Tit 1:9 He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.

Key Questions
2Ti 4:1 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: 2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage--with great patience and careful instruction. 3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. 5 But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.
