BODY SYSTEMS! By: Aditi Sarode!! :D WELCOME TO THE MUSCULAR SYSTEM!!! What is the muscular system????? The muscular system is a system in your body. It helps provide movement for the body.Muscles also provide strength, balance, posture, and heat for the body. There are different kinds of muscles such as smooth, cardiac and skeletal muscles. What would happen if my muscular system stopped working??? Well for starters, you wouldn't be able to move!! You also would not be able to talk or breathe. Plus; in addition to all that, many systems rely on the muscular so your other systems would have something go wrong too. Diseases! Uh-Oh! Muscular Dystrophy- This is a genetic disease is a group of inherited muscle disease that causes damage to muscle fibers. Symptoms? weakness, lack of coordination..etc. Myasthenia Gravis- The disease causes impulse receptors in the muscles to fail, making nerve impulses sent from the brain ineffective. Symptoms? drooping eyelids, difficulty eating, blurred vision, muscle fatigue, and trouble breathing. INTERESTING FACT! -There are over 600 muscles in your body

-Your largest muscle is the gluteus maximus INTERESTING FACTS!! -Your largest muscle is your gluteus maximus (butt) :D

-You have over 600 muscles in your body MEET THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM!! What is the circulatory system??? The circulatory system circulates blood through the body. It consists of the heart, blood vessels, and blood. It is also responsible for transporting materials throughout the entire body such as nutrients, water, and oxygen. What would happen if my circulatory system stopped working?? Well, your blood would stop circulating and then you would probably die pretty quickly. Your brain would not be getting enough oxygen so..... Disorders of the Circulatory System! Heart attack- occurs if the flow of oxygen-rich blood to a section of heart muscle suddenly becomes blocked. Stroke- the rapid loss of brain function(s) due to disturbance in the blood supply to the brain. INTERESTING CIRCULATORY FACTS!! -Within a tiny droplet of blood, there are about 5 million red blood cells.

-Blood that is rich in oxygen appears red. Blood that is poor in oxygen appears darker red (NOT BLUE)

-The heart beats around 3 billion times in the average person's life. HOW DO THE TWO SYSTEMS INTERACT?? -The heart is made of cardiac muscle which allows it to beat and blood vessels have smooth muscles in them to help them constrict
-The circulatory system provides the fuel in the form of glucose and oxygen so that the muscles can do their work. HOW DO THEY WORK TOGETHER?? The circulatory system brings nutrients to the muscles and takes away wastes. The circulatory system also carries hormones that regulate muscular activity. The pump for the circulatory system is the heart--a muscle.
