Ms.Edgar 4/26/2010 Scenario Clues Northeastern Wyoming Appears to have a cold Shake uncontrollably Black-footed Ferret colonies Prairie dogs in the area Diagnosis Most of the diseases symptoms matched
with the ferrets symptoms. The ferret didn't have all the same symptoms
as the disease did. Not all symptoms were listed Organisms Affected dogs
ferrets
skunks
raccoons
foxes Cause of Disease large RNA called Paramyxovirus HOW cAN yOU gET iT?? Animal affected
gRASS, weeds, trees, shrubs,etc.
humans
any object Symptoms fever
decreased appetite
weight loss
upper respiratory tract infections
coughing
hardening of nose & pads
In worse cases seizures, coma, death Effects Effects the nervous system

Paralysises two or four legs

Causes convulsions and possibly coma

have a decreased appetite Prevention & Treatment Prevention:
- vaccinate
- disinfectants Treatment:
-antibiotics
-not curable
-can be fatal Additional Info In most cases canine distemper
is fatal in ferrets

if ferret survives disease the effects
