the first civilization Mesopotamia Mesopotamia was located in the fertile crescent between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers Mesopotamia was the first civilization- it started in 3,000 BC(E). It had all of the 7 things to be considered a civilization. Mesopotamia had a form of writing called Cuneiform that was used for household goods, court activity, and sales. It was also used for laws. At first it was just pictures that represented words but it later became more complicated.
