1903 - 1950
He was an English writer,
journalist and critic.
In 1948 he wrote "1984" which has been considered the ultimate dystopian novel.
an imaginary place or state in which the condition of life is extremely bad, as from deprivation, oppression, or terror.
In 1984 Orwell depicted a world:
of perpetual war
with an omnipresent government (Ingsoc) surveillance through telesceens
of public manipulation (controlled media)
with the persecutution of individualism and independent thinking (thought crime).
