Transcript of Chemical Reactions

Chemical Reactions The five types of General Reaction A chemical reaction in which two or more subtances react to produce a single product Synthesis Reaction Decoposition Reaction A decomposition reaction is one in which a single compound breaks down into two or more elements or compound Single Replacement A reaction in which the atoms of one element replace the atoms of another element in a compound is called a single replacement reaction Double Replacement The final type of replacement reaction which involves an exchange of ions between two compounds is called a double replacement reaction Combustion In a combustion reaction, oxygen combines with a substance and releases energy in the form of heat and light. A neutralization reaction is a reaction in which an acid and a base react in aqueous solution to produce a salt and water. A neutralization reaction is a double-replacement reaction. Acid-Base Reaction Precipitation Reaction A reaction in which a solid is produced in a solution Oxidation-Reduction
Reactions A reaction in which electrons are transferred from one atom to another "Chemical Reactions." reich-chemistry.wikispaces. Web. 23 Feb 2011.
