The day the incident happened was April 18, 1906.
The location that it happened in was San Francisco.
The San Andreas fault line shifted 21 feet North and caused the earthquake.
There wasn't any warning, it all happened in a minute and caused damage to the whole city.
There wasn't any preparations made, it blind sided the city.
The effects on the city were terrible the whole city had been effected in some way. Destroyed houses, buildings, everything!
The damage created was destroyed homes, buildings, highways, even the land. This caused deaths amd left about 400,000 people homeless! The earthquake ruptured the northernmost 296 miles of the San Andreas fault.
There wasn't really a solid resolution, there was some soup kitchens and homes setup along with carepackages from other states. But the people were really waiting for reconstrution.
After the incident houses were starting to be built with reinforced inner bracing and stronger steel beams.
To prevent fires after the quake police destroyed $30,000 in intoxicating beverages.
Fires caused by the quake destroyed about 28,000 buildings.
Some fires caused by the quake burned at 2,700 degrees celcius.
