Black Veil Brides
In December 2009 the band embarked on their first tour title: 'On Leather Wings'. The group debut album "We Stitch These Wounds" was released July 20th, 2010 and sold over 10,000 copies in it's first week, ranking No. 36 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and No. 1 on the Billboard Independent chart. Black Veil Brides first came to the attention of Lava Records president Jason Flom when the chief music officer at Hot Topic, John Kirkpatrick, told him about the incredible buzz that was building around the band, with their t-shirt attracting the second biggest sales in the country at that point. What was even more impressive was that they had built their fanatical following in a "DIY" fashion, such as in making their own self-funded videos. When Flom then heard their music and met the group, he decided that they were exactly what he'd been looking for, later commenting to HitQuarters:

"They are bringing back what has been missing for over a decade: they are rock heroes that are truly larger than life. The make-up, the hair, the leather, and most importantly they have great songs, great playing..."
Black Veil Brides is an American rock band based in Hollywood, California. The group includes Andy Biersack(lead vocals), Ashley Purdy(bass), Jake Pitts(lead guitar), Jinxx(rythm guitar, violin and piano), and C.C.(drums). Black Veil Brides are known for their distinct appearance(black and white make up and body paint, tight black studded clothing and long hair), which was inspired by Kiss' and Motley Crue's stage persona.
A clip of the album's lead single, "Fallen Angels", was released in late April. It was then fully released in the UK on May 1. The US release was pushed from May 3 to May 10 to be given for free with the pre-order of Set the World on Fire on iTunes. Because "Fallen Angels" was delayed, the band released a preview of the song "Youth and Whisky" in May. The album's next single was The Legacy, with a music video filmed by Patrick Fogarty that premiered on YouTube on June 6, 2011. Their third single from Set the World on Fire was "Rebel Love Song", which also had a music video directed by Patrick Fogarty. The video was released on YouTube on October 19. On October 25, the band announced that they had to cancel tour dates for "certain reasons". It was later announced that it was because Andy had broken his nose on the drum set rising platform during a performance. Despite the injury, which was bad enough for people to notice that he was having difficulty breathing and talking, he was determined to finish the show. After a visit from the doctor, he was told to sit back for a few weeks to rest and heal. They announced that they would return to tour for the beginning of the Buried Alive Tour with Avenged Sevenfold, Asking Alexandria, and Hollywood Undead.
Andrew Dennis Biersack (age 22) was born December 26, 1990 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is the founder and lead vocalist of Black Veil Brides. He attended a Catholic elementary school and dropped out of high school after extensive bullying to further his potential career. At age 14 him and some friends formed 'Biersack'. He handed out CD's at school and this fueled the fire to becoming a musician. He studied acting and vocal music in high school, Cincinnati's School for Creative and Performing Arts. He appeared in comercials for AT&T and Montanna Meth. He guest stars in the Funny or Die web series Average Joe. He also starred in the full length feature film 'Legion of the Black' which was released on January 6th, 2013, to support the bands latest album, Wretched and Divine: The Story of the Wild Ones.
Around the same time "Sex and Hollywood" was released, Andy was dating actress Scout Compton, and wrote the song, "The Mortician's Daughter" about her. He also dated actress and songstress Demi Lovato for a very short period of time in the summer of 2008. Currently Andy is dating Juliet Simms of Automatic Loveletter. Andy appeared in the first episode of the second season of the Voice on February 5th, 2011, when he went to support Juliet as she auditioned to become a contestant. They have each other's nicknames tattooed on their hands; Andy has "Dragonfly" tattooed on his left hand, and Juliet has "White Rabbit" tattooed on her right.
Regarding Andy's religious views, he does not have any beliefs or affiliations with any religions, making him an Atheist. In an interview with Loudwire, he stated "I’m not a religious person but I grew up in a religious family. I went to the funeral for my grandfather, a person that I love very much, and everyone is speaking about how he went to Heaven and how he’s in Heaven. I always fight with that, because I would love nothing more to believe that my grandfather is in the clouds playing Xbox 460 or whatever awesome stuff they have up in Heaven, but I can’t."
Andy has suffered quite a few injuries while performing with Black Veil Brides, most notably his fall from a 15 foot pillar on June 18, 2011 in Hollywood. In an attempt to jump back onto the stage, he fell forward and hit his chest on the edge, which resulted in 3 ribs shattered (3 lower left), and one displaced. The band was only three songs into their set, but he got back up on the stage and finished it despite the severity of his injuries. That particular injury caused Black Veil Brides to have to miss the first week of the Vans Warped Tour in 2011. On October 26, 2011, while on another tour in the UK, Andy broke his nose on the drum riser while performing a gig in Luxembourg, resulting in more missed tour dates. However, two days later, he performed with Black Veil Brides in London.
In an interview with Revolver Magazine, Andy stated:I never anticipated seeing 40. I smoke two packs a day and drink like a camel. I just don’t really think about death. I know I’m gonna die one day, but if I can achieve all of my goals and live exactly the way I want to before then, I’ll have no regrets when I die. I don’t try to hurt myself like Iggy Pop or Marilyn Manson or anything — it’s just the byproduct of the chaos of being on stage.
