by.Serena Huddleston Dating; Renaissance style (Courtship during the renaissance meant so much more than it does now. It was so much more than it is now.) Most of the people of the renaissance were catholics so weddings most often were held in churches and chapels. Social status would determine how many people and what type of people would attend said weddings.
For royalty often many guests would attend and some of those guests were even royalty from other countries! Marriage. ~Dancing ~Social Standing ~Poetry ~Music ~Language ~Science ~Art ~Chivalry and Commitment Dating? Dating during that time period meant something different than what it means now. When the younger population would date, it often was to associate themselves with their future spouse via arranged marriage. Another factor was that those of royalty and noble blood didn't associate with those of the lower classes. Customs During the Renaissance marriage was often used as a way to gain status, power, and money, rarely was "Love" involved. To choose your companion was almost unheard of for the upper classes.
