God of Light and Truth, Healing, Archery, and Music APOLLO Description Symbols/Sacred Objects Although he invented the lute, Apollo was more known for playing the Lyre. His half brother Hermes invented it. He liked it so much that he traded an immortal cow for it. From then on, Apollo took care of the tree, and with his powers, made sure she never got old. Apollo wore a laurel wreath on his head forever. Apollo was one of the 12 major Gods. He was the son of Zeus and Leto, and the twin brother of Artemis. He was an archer, and he could shoot very far with his silver bow. He taught medicine and he was the God of Truth as well as many other things, and he could not tell a lie. Apollo helped mortals by telling prophecy's. The other Gods knew him for punishing mortals and saving them from dying. Apollo is both his Greek and Roman name. As a Greek God, he aslo controls the sun. This is a wreath of a Laurel tree The Laurel Tree Family Tree Zeus Leto Apollo Artemis Apollo chased Daphne, and Daphne tried to get away from him. Eros shot Apollo with his arrow to make him fall madly in love with the nymph Daphne. Eros shot Daphne with an arrow to make her hate Apollo. She cried out to her father,
a river god, for help.
He turned her into
a Laurel tree. Apollo had a silver bow and arrow. He was a master at archery. He used it as a weapon. Animals dolphins
