Show Biz accountants go by many names and preform many functions. Some names for Show Biz accountants are Entertainment Accountants, Entertainment CPA, or Production Accountant. The average salary range for a Showbiz accountant is $45,000 to $80,000.They can be employees for an entertainment firm, movie studio, television or film production company.
Job Description
Most accounting jobs do not have many perks, but a Showbiz Accountant can experience many things that people only dream of seeing. Some perks that a Showbiz Accountant can receive are traveling to movie locations, attending screenings and premieres and having the opportunity to meet many famous actors and musicians. There are also free movie and studio logoed clothing and trinkets that a Showbiz Accountant can receive. Vicki Rocco, an experienced Showbiz Accountant, says that during the holidays, she gets many gifts from people that are happy with the job she has performed.
Perks for a Showbiz Accountant
After obtaining your college degree in accounting, to become a successful Showbiz Accountant, you would need to take your CPA exam (Certified Public Accountant). As stated earlier, to become break into Showbiz Accounting, you need to be educated in the entertainment business. It may be wise to go to a college in Southern California where you could be close to the movie and TV studios. It would be very wise to accept internships, no matter how low the pay, at firms that do business with the entertainment industry. You would need to start as an accounting clerk and work up the career path to become a Showbiz Accountant.

After obtaining these standard accounting skills through school, you would then need to learn about the different aspects of the entertainment industry.

The University of Pennsylvania school of business, called Wharton is one of the best business schools in the nation. A graduate of this school is almost guaranteed a good job. To attain a BA or Bachelor of Arts in accounting, you need to go to college for 4 years. Then, you can go to graduate school for 18 to 24 months to obtain your MBA in business accounting (Master of Business Administration). Most schools offer internships at lower than normal pay at local accounting firms. The cost of a BA can be $10,000 to $50,000 a year for 4 years, depending on the school and if you live in the state. Graduate school at Wharton will cost $59,000 per year. Richard A Bloch, founder of H&R Block and Warren Buffet are alumni of Wharton.
