Block 4 I Do Not Love You Because I Love You Pablo Neruda's History - Pablo was born on July 12th 1904 and died on September 23rd 1973.

- He became a poet as early as a teenager.

- He often wrote in green ink colour as it was his personal symbol for desire and hope with his poetry.

-He was known as the best poet in the 20th century in all languages.

-In 1945 he read to , people in honor of communist revolutionary leader Luis Carlos Prestes. I do not love you except because I love you;
I go from loving to not loving you,
From waiting to not waiting for you
My heart moves from cold to fire.

I love you only because it's you the one I love;
I hate you deeply, and hating you
Bend to you, and the measure of my changing love for you
Is that I do not see you but love you blindly.

Maybe January light will consume
My heart with its cruel
Ray, stealing my key to true calm.

In this part of the story I am the one who
Dies, the only one, and I will die of love because I love you,
Because I love you, Love, in fire and blood. My heart moves from cold to fire.
This excerpt is personification because your heart cannot move nor can it go from cold to fire. I Do Not Love You Because I Love You By: Pablo Neruda I do not love you except because I love you;
That would be irony because it is saying that
he loves her, yet he doesn't love her. Maybe January light will consume
My heart with its cruel
Ray, stealing my key to true calm.
This would also be personification because
sun light can't steal things. Waiting; Waiting.
This would be repetition and he stresses it
because he wants people to know what she's talking
about. How much he cares about her, and how he
would wait for her no matter what or for how long. I love you only because it's you the one I love;
I hate you deeply, and hating you.
The section would be irony because he's talking about
how much he loves her yet how much he hates her. This poem means several things to me. First, how I think he talks about relationships. How they aren't easy and they have their ups and downs. in the poem he states that no matter what he'd be there for her, wait for her, love her, and die for her. Also, that his love is unconditional. I love that he gets the point across that he loves her and that he'd do anything for her. The poem melts my heart.
