The Viruse
Ways to control virsues
Intro\ Facts
A virus is a biological agent that reproduces inside the cells of living hosts. When infected by a virus, a host cell is forced to produce many thousands of identical copies of the original virus, at an extraordinary rate. Unlike most living things, viruses do not have cells that divide; new viruses are assembled in the infected host cell.
Lytic vs Lysogenic cycle
In the lytic cycle

Viral DNA destroys cell DNA, takes over cell functions and destroys the cell.
The virus replicates and produces progeny phages.
There are symptoms of viral infection.
Virtulant and viral infection takes place.
virus comes from the latin word meaning slimy, liquid or posion
walter reed dicovered the first human visus 'yellow fever' in 1901
Lysogenic cycle

Viral DNA merges with cell DNA and does not destroy the cell.
There are no symptoms of viral infection.
Temperate viral replication takes place.
Are viruses living or dead?
Viruses are not living, Viruses are complicated assemblies of molecules, including proteins , nucleic acids, lipids and carbohydrates, but on their own they can do nothing untli they enter a living cell. Without cells, viruses are not living things
Dose not grow, does not produce waste, does not repsond to the environment.
They are not made of cells.
Do not metabolize energy.
Cannot reproduce without another cell.
