There are four types of topic sentences
-Show the topic of the paragraph
-Everything else must connect to it
-One of your three reasons
Types of Topic Sentences
1. Straight Forward
e.x. Soccer is a fun and exciting sport that anyone can enjoy playing.
2. Three Reasons
e.x. Soccer is a good way to get exercise, has many teams to follow, and has lots of action.
3. Question
e.x. Who hasn't played a game of soccer?
4. Humorous Exclamation
e.x. Watch out! A soccer ball might come flying at your head.
Yellow means SLOW DOWN.
Write a detail which supports your topic sentence.
These details MUST connect to the topic sentence!
Topic Sentence: Soccer is an interesting and exciting sport that everyone can enjoy playing.

Goalies make magnificent saves when they dive for the ball.
Rivalries among teams make the games interesting to watch.

Tim Howard, a goalie for the U.S. National Team, dives after the ball even if it means he is going to fall hard to the ground.
For example, Manchester United and Liverpool are big rivals, and anytime they play emotions run high and sometimes they don't get along.
AYSO, the American Youth Soccer Organization, allows kids as young as four years old to play soccer on a team.
