How the camera sees an image
Visual information received by the eye is transmitted to the brain where it is filtered to process what the brain perceives as being of importance. The camera, however, simply records everything within the field of view of the lens.
The brain has evolved to process visual data as quickly as possible. It could be the difference between staying alive or being eaten or possibly avoiding having a car accident. The brain to save on needless scanning of a image will look for symmetry, lines, patterns and shapes to allow it to take short cuts, however, it can make assumptions that are not correct. For example: if there are discontinuities in a line .
One of the fundamental things in photography is to learn to photograph what you see, not what you think to see.
Move in closer
Photography Beginners will probably only concentrate on the subject they wish to photograph and not see all the distractions and unwanted objects that have been filtered out by the brain. Techniques for removing the distractions may include having a shallow depth of field , altering the viewpoint or simply moving in closer to simplify the image. It may be a good idea to continue the process of simplifying the image by taking several images moving closer each time for the next image.
Simplification is an essential part of composition; getting rid of unwanted clutter
Geometry is to photography what grammar is to the art of the writer
The placement of objects in a image to give a aesthetically pleasing image use rules such as the 'thirds rule' or 'dynamic symmetry' which are a simplification of the golden section.
The Golden Section.
Many objects in nature such as the spirals of sunflower seeds or marine shells have been found to be based upon a remarkable series of numbers called the Fibonacci Sequence . Also, geometry based on this sequence relates to our innate sense of harmony and proportion.

The Golden Section
While the maths behing the golden section is interesting, it's really just a theory that has been used by some artists throughout the ages since the ancient Greeks. These artists don't place focal points or horizons on third, place them according to the golden section .
The golden section only works when its applied to a frame that is roughly times as long as it is wide. This is close to the ratio of the 35 mm frame- the golden section goes out of the window if you using a different aspect ratio ( such as a micro four thirds, the square format, or the format of a medium or large format camera
Many striking photos have no connection with the above rules, but as an exercise what makes this photo ,apart from the overdone HDR effect , interesting?
