Tsunami
Tsunami
Tsunami is a Japanese word meaning 'harbour wave'. It is a large ocean wave that is caused by sudden motion on the ocean floor. About 90% of tsunamis occur in the Pacific Ocean, and most are caused by earthquakes that are generally well over 6.0 on the Richter scale. Its characteristics is undetectable and the wave travel extremely fast in the deep ocean(about 970km per hour) and the wavelength is about 30km and the wave height is only one metre. A tsunami is not a single wave, but rather a wavetrain. They surge in much like very strong and fast-moving tides.
