Latitude and Longitude Latitude and longitude can be used to locate cities, states, and countries. Lines of latitude run east and west. Lines of latitude are measured at degrees north and south. Lines of longitude run north and south. Lines of longitude are measured at degrees east and west. The equator is 0 degrees latitude. Latitude and longitude can help us find our exact position on the globe. The prime meridian is 0 degrees longitude. The equator divides the globe into northern and southern hemispheres. The prime meridian divides the globe into eastern and western hemispheres. Latitude and longitude can also be used to find a store, business, or even your house! Latitude and longitude are imaginary lines on maps and globes that we use to find an exact location. Works Cited
