ADDING INTEGERS

Adding two positive integers always yields a positive sum

adding two negative integers always yields a negative sum. to find the sum of a positive and negative integer, take the absolute value of each integer and then subtract these values.

MULTIPLYING INTEGERS

When you multiply two integers with different signs, the result is always negative. Just multiply the absolute values and make the answer negative. When you divide two integers with the same sign, the result is always positive. Just divide the absolute values and make the answer positive.

DEFINITIONS

Rational Number- A number that can be made by dividing two integers.

Integers- A whole number; a number that is not a fraction.

Whole Number- A number without fractions; an integer.

Natural Number- Those used for counting and ordering.

Irrational Number- A real number that cannot be expressed as a ratio of integers, i.e. as a fraction.

INTEGER VIDEO

To subtract integers, change the sign on the integer that is to be subtracted. If both signs are negative, the answer will be negative. If the signs are different subtract the smaller absolute value from the larger absolute value.

DIVIDING INTEGERS
