BOBSLEIGH is when 2-4 people rid down a ice covered track in a gravity powered sled
BIATHLON is like a triathlon except its just two events instead of three. In the Olympics the events in the biathlon are normally cross country skiing and shooting.

CROSS COUNTRY SKIING is when you ski a longer distance on a trail.
CURLING is when you take a large granite stone and slide it across ice to a target.

FIGURE SKATING is in the Olympics is when you make a dance of some-sort on the ice with skates.
ICE HOCKEY is a sport played on ice, were you use hockey sticks to hit a rubber puck into the apponent's net.

Short Track Speed Skating
THE LUGE is actually the name of the sled that someone would use to sled on the ice track.
SHORT TRACK SPEED SKATING is when a about 8 men race around a hockey rink a certain amount of times and whoever finishes first is the winner.
Ski Jumping
SKI JUMPING is when skiers go down a take off ramp and try to land a far as possible down the hill. They also get judged for there landing style.

ALPINE SKIING is pretty much exactly like downhill skiing
CROSS COUNTRY SKIING actually is normally an individual sport but they have teams too.

FIGURE SKATING is also an individual sport.
FREESTYLE SKIING has a lot of different kinds of tricks like, aerial, moguls, skicross, boardercross, Ski half-pipe, Snowboard half-pipe and Slopestyle. these are all the things they have to do to get points and to win.

THE LUGE is also an individual sport.
NORDIC COMBINED is a sport that people compete in both cross country skiing and ski jumping.

SHORT TRACK SPEED SKATING is not just a team or relay sport, it is also an individual sport.
SKELETON is a lot like the luge, only your going faster and head first.

SKI JUMPING is also individual sport as well as a relay. its actually more of an individual sport then it is a relay.

A Little History: Figure skating joined the Winter Olympics in 1924. Before that It was part of the summer Olympics from 1908-1920. And in 2011 on April 6th, they added mixed teams to the event.
FACTS: There are 30 people that are allowed to participate in the singles event.
FACTS: the only way that a skater can skate in the Olympics is if they belong to a member nation of the International Skating Union.
FACT: To be an Olympic Figure Skater you must be older then 15 before July 1st the year before.

A Little History: Ski Jumping has been in the Winter Olympics ever since it started. From 1924 through 1956 the sport involved jumping from one hill which varied in size to the next.
FACT: The USA has only won one Olympic medal for Ski Jumping and it was a bronze.
FACT: 2014 will be the first year that the Olympics has had women's Ski Jumping.
FACT: The USA has had 27 people in Olympic Ski Jumping since 1924.
A Little History: Snowboarding joined the winter Olympics in 1998. Snowboarding is one of the 5 new winter sports added between 1992 and 2002. It also was the only one that had not previously been a medal or demonstration event.
FACT: The first two events had for snowboarding were, The Giant Slalom and Half-pipe
FACT: Ross Rebagliati was the first person to win a gold medal in snowboarding but was stripped of it soon after because they found that he tested positive for marijuana.
FACT: In 2002 the Giant Slalom was dropped in favor of the parallel Giant Slalom.
Fun Facts: Owns two horses named Sparky and Bugs ... Loves playing soccer and hanging out with friends ... First learned to ski at age 3

Arielle is a 17 year old Olympic snowboarder. She has been snowboarding since she was 7 years old. She started snowboarding because she say how much her older brother loved it and now there BOTH Olympic snowboarders.

Areille has two horses. One named Sparky and the other is Bugs. She Loves horses. She started riding when she was 3, and then started racing when she was 7.
She only has one brother but I'm SURE that is enough for her.;) (speaking from experience.) Her brothers name is Taylor. He is 3 years older then her. Her mom and dads names are Ken and Patty.
