when blueberries are grown. Where Blueberries are grown: North America is where nearlly 90% of the
world's blueberry production comes from. They
are also grown in Western Australia, Southern
QLD, Nothern Tasmania and South Australia.
Blueberries still grow wild throughout the wo-
ody and mountanious regions of the U.S and
Canada, aswell as on farms. In Europe, Bluebe-
rries are rarely found growning wild, but are
still cultivated. Blueberries keep blood pressure down. 18/01/2011, accessed 3/05/2011, ‹http://www.futurepundit.com/archives/007839.html›. When & what climates are Blueberries grown: Baxter, P 1990, The complete Guide to Growing fruit in Australia, Thomas Nelson, Sydney, Australia. Highbush Blueberries need a cool winter climate.
They are best flavoured are produced in a climate
when summer nights are cool and the days are warm
& sunny. For warmer climate there are low-chill blueberrries
, which can be grown as far as the sub-tropics.
In North America i couldn't find infomation on when it is
grown, but the harvest runs through from mid- April through
to early October, with peak harvest in July which is also k-
nown as national Blueberry month. In Austalia they are gro-
wn from December till April. By 1978 it was recognised
that the warmer climate, Southern Highbush and Rabbiteye
varieties from the Southern states of America would grow
on the NSW North coast and produce high value, early sea-
son fruit. What are Bluebrries used for? Text Refrences: Web Refrences: In the olden days and ocasionally now, they used blueberry juice to treat coughs. They are used for every day eating and are rich in vitamins A & C. Blueberries can be used in blueberry pies, blueberry mousse, muffins, cheesecake, pancakes, ice-cream, yougurt, jam, wines and juice. Compared with those who don't eat blueberries, those eating blueberries once a week can reduce your chance of high blood pressure by 10%. They also have antioxcidents.
