What is Ramadan?
The islamic calendar follows the moon . so the beginning of the month of Ramadan is decided when the crescent moon appears in the sky.
During this month muslims abstain from food, drink, smoking, sexual intercourse, music and swearing.
Sawm (fasting) is one one of the 5 pillars of Islam, it is an obligation on all those who have reached puberty.
