Lesson 29
Robust Vocabulary chilly scampering budge entire squatted If something is chilly, it feels cool or cold. If something is bizarre, it is very strange. Extravaganza is amazing entertainment. If you peer, you look closely at something. If you were scampering, you were running in a playful way. When you learn something or find something for the first time, you have made a discovery. If something is majestic, it seems as important and grand as a king or queen. If you budge something, you move it just a little. An entire thing is all of that thing. majestic discovery bizarre extravaganza peered If you squatted, you crouched or sat on the ground. Do the following things make you chilly?
a mountain of ice cubes
a hot shower
a snowstorm
soup These are things you might see. Are any of them bizarre?
a flickering street light
a flying car
a creaking door

Xing tried to move the fallen tree off her foot. The cat crouched as it got ready to pounce on the mouse. The scientist's sighting of a new planet was exciting. Synonyms a word that means the same, or almost the same, as another word majestic peered entire budge squatted discovery Flat rocks squatted like sleeping toads. The air was chilly in the morning. The lizard saw something bizarre: a rock shining as though it had a light inside. Each year the emperor organized an extravaganza that included a great feast, with joyful music and beautiful dances.
