What is a Concussion?
A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury (TBI) that is sustained from a blow to the head (cdc.gov, 2014).

There are basically five steps to returning to play after an athlete sustains a concussion
Step 1
must complete a physical
light exercise
The goal is to test heart rate
Step 2
Moderate Exercise
limited body movement
limited head movement
Step 3
Non contact Exercise
more intense but no contact
Step 4
full contact
close to return
can be really intense
Step 5
