Yellow River By: Taylor Sipe 5,464 miles long, second longest river in china The river irrigates the farmland More than thirty branches and countless streams extend of the river Also known as the Huanghe River Most efforts have been toward flood reconstruction The basin of the river has three parts The river is the spiritual home of the Chinese people River is sometimes called the "River of Sorrows" Each year 1.5 billion tons of soil runs through the Yellow River The Yellow River has dried up more than 30 times since 1972 More than 80 percent of th Yellow River basin has been chronically pollution Without this river, farmland would not be irrigated. Many people used this land to make a living by growing crops. Although flooding is a major issue, this waterway allows transportation. The Yellow River includes minerals that are important to farming and making a living for the people who live along the river.
