Industrial Age
By: Zach Lipari
In the 1832 a man named Samuel Morse invented the electric telegraph. Samuel Morse invented the telegraph with his colleague named Alfred Vai, and they created it by making a device that was able to send a flow of electricity through a weir that sent short, and long beeps by pushing down a key.

Because of the invention of the telegraph it revolutionized the 19th century because information was able to be transmitted a longer distance in a short amount of time. befor it was invented people would communicate by drum beats, and smoke signals.

Social- Able to communicate long distances in short periods of time
Cultural- In a way it connected the country
Political- it changed political factors because government officials were able to send detailed messages faster. It was also a big part of the union winning the Civil war because it was a huge advantage they had over the confederate because they were able to send fats messages
Economic- Since they started to make more and more telegraphs they had to put more telephone poles up so the signal could transmit but they had quite a cost.

This made life a lot easier because it was a more fuel efficient, cheaper way for light. A lot better than the previous gaslights.

On December 31, 1879 Thomas Edison gave the first public demonstration of the incandescent light bulb at his laboratory in Menlo Park, New Jersey

It changed the way we thought how to make light in houses, because other inventors, and innovators later discovered more was to improve the light bulb and different sources of lights.

Thomas Savery was the first person to patent the design of the first crude steam engine but it was not till James Watt improved on the design in the 18th century. Watt discovered how to improve on the engine because one day a man walked into his shop for repairs on the Thomas Newcomen’s steam engine and he was always fascinated by steam, so he decided to experiment with it and later discovered to improve on the design of the engine he had to keep the cylinder as hot as the steam entering it so it would not lose as much power.

This invention completely changed the industrial revolution because it made trains and railroads and that made travel much further and faster than by horse or boat. This made it so you can transport goods, and people much faster. it also increased the production of coal mines because the invention of the steam engine, because it needed so much coal. Befor James Watt had improved on the steam engine travel was a lot slower, because people traveled bb boat and horse.

The inventors of the first airplane were Orville and Wilbur Wright. On December 17, 1903, the Wright brothers made the first successful flight in which an aircraft carrying someone by its own power flew by itself

It completely changed the meaning of travel because now instead of taking a train, or traveling on land, or traveling from one country to another by boat, now you could just fly over it.

In the 1870s, two inventors Elisha Gray and Alexander Graham Bell designed devices that could transmit speech electrically called the telephone
The invention of the telephone mad life so much easier because it allowed people to communicate much faster than previously done by the telegraph because you had to decode the message and all of that stuff, but with this invention all you had to do was to talk into it.
Social- you where able to communicate much faster and easier to people
Economic- since the first invention of the telephone the market of communication sky rocketed
This invention had a huge impact on how we live today because people had more, and more ideas on how to improve on it like with satellites, and smart phones.
Social- The steam engine made it possible for people, letters, and stuff like that to travel much further distances in a short amount of time so people started to be much more social and able to send messages much faster to one another
Cultural- The transportation of goods, and people
Political- Able to send messages to other government officials across the U.S. faster so they can make quicker decisions for the country
Economic- Since the production of coal went up drastically more and more coal was being mined and sold to railroads, and the coal industry was making a lot of money.

The invention of the steam engine impacted how we live today because it made humans realize that steam can move large amounts of metal which we discovered how to make energy from it.(power plants)

The invention of the telegraph affected the way we live today because it was really the first way that the country could communicate with the push of a button.

Social- since the invention of the light bulb it allowed people to be more active at night because light was no longer a fire hazard so you could keep your house or work office lit up as long as you want
Economic- It made lighting in households a lot cheaper
Social- Now you could travel great amount of distances in a matter of time
Cultural- Easy travel
Political- Now good from other countries could be transported hear much faster
Economic- Now that flight is invented later airlines start and the production of planes sky rocket
Now travel is much easier and faster
