is what you are going to do or make
Material Needed
is list of what you need to achieve your goal
Methods or Steps
is outline the steps needed to reach your goal
Language Features
General and specific nouns for the topic you are writing about
Words to show time order
Action verbs
Present tense
Detailed directions a reader can follow in sequence
Texts that explain how something works or how to use instruction or operation manuals (example: how to operate computer).
Texts that instruct how to do a particular activity
(example: recipes).
Texts that deal with human behavior
(example: how to live happily).
