What is body image?
The negative consequences of an unhealthy body image.

The influence of genetics, the environment and somatotype on the way you look.

Genetics
influences your body type. For example: Parents with blonde hair and blue eyes are likely to have a child with blonde hair and blue eyes.
The
environment
can influence your body image. e.g. if you live in a tropical environment you will be more tan than a person who lives in a place where it rains a lot.
Somatotypes
are 3 general types of body shapes. The type of body you have influences your body image.

Body image is:
A persons perception of themselves.
Thoughts and feelings they have towards this perception.
How they think others perceive them.
Reasons why people may have developed an unhealthy body image.
The positive consequences of a healthy body image.
Positive genetic traits that influences my body image.

Causes people to develop a negative body image, which may lead to depression. It gives unrealistic ideals that people try to seek.

Against:
Creates an incentive for people to lose weight. Gives aesthetic pleasure. (appealing for people to look and appreciate.)
