4)What motivates Oberon to try to control Demetrius? What motivates him to try to control Titania? Be sure to cite the strongest evidence from the text to support your answer.
Oberon values love and when he sees Demetrius refusing love with Helena, he immediately calls Puck and tells him that “a sweet Athenian lady is in love with a disdainful youth, anoint his eyes”(II.i.261-262). Anyone could’ve just left and dido’t care, but Oberon did because he valued love. Oberon was motivated to take a revenge after losing the argument with an Indian boy against Titania. Revenge can motivate anyone and Oberon had a creative way to teach Titania a lesson as he will use a magical flower “and drop the liquor of it in her eyes”(II.i.178) that when dripped, will have love at first sight.

5) How does Titania react to Oberon’s request for the boy? Support your answer with details from the text. What does her reaction tell the reader about her personality?

Titania refuses Oberon’s request for the boy. As he attempts to persuade her, she declines saying,“Set your heart at rest: The Fairyland buys not the child of me…”(II.i.121-1212). Her reaction portrays her character of independence as a woman. A kingdom will not tempt her into giving up the Indian boy. Titania is not easily swayed by others and does not follow orders she is unwilling to obey.

) In 2.1.210–217, Helena compares herself to a “spaniel,” or a kind of dog. Reread those lines. What does this comparison say about her relationship with Demetrius?
This comparison explains the relationship that Demetrius has authority over Helena and treats her with no respect. Because Helena refers to herself as a spaniel or dog, she thinks of herself as a loyal person and sticks to Demetrius regardless of his feelings of hate towards her.

2) In 2.1.268–269, Oberon refers to an “Athenian lady” who is in love with a “disdainful youth.” Explain what this means, with special attention to the phrase “disdainful youth.”

Oberon explains to Robin of the description of the torn couple that he needs to give the flower to. The “sweet Athenian lady”, Helena, chases after the “disdainful youth”, Demetrius. He rejects her time after time, yet she still pursues him, blinded by love. Demetrius lacks respect for Helena and rudely drives her away.

3)2.1.146-195 What is the flower’s magical power? How did it become magical?
The flower’s magical power is that if it is squeezed into an individual’s eyes, they will instantly fall in love with the first living creature that it sees. This flower became magical because of an arrow shot by Cupid, the god of love.

Comic Strip & Summary
This metaphor is said by Helena when she is trying to gain love from Demetrius. In the metaphor, she compares herself as a dog. This conveys that Demetrius treats Helena like his spaniel, ignoring her and neglecting her. We can infer that Demetrius really dislikes Helena and doesn't want to do anything with her. This leads to Oberon wanting Demetrius and Helena to love each other.

Love is an intense feeling of affection for a significant other. This concept, only a chemical reaction, has the power to influence and manipulate one's overall behavior. Whether blind, misguided, or unconditional, love is an emotion no one has control over. At a younger age, love not only distracts children from important matters, but also causes them to act foolishly without thinking clearly. Love is simply a chemical reaction in the brain, and therefore teens cannot make logical decisions while dealing with it.
In the play,
A Midsummer Night's Dream
, written by William Shakespeare, many chaotic events occur due to the conflicts erupting because of love. In the woods, two past lovers argue, while the hard-hearted man, Demetrius says, "For I am sick when I do look on thee" (II.i.212). The love-sick woman, Helena, replies, "And I am sick when I look not on you" (II.i.213). Helena pursues Demetrius persistently, yet is blind to how disrespectfully he treats her. Helena's feelings of fondness toward him might only be because she is attached to the concept of love. The adoration Helena senses is a feeling she cannot control, so the logical decision, erasing Demetrius from her life, is not an option to her. Overall, teenagers and people of any age, cannot make valid choices when losing one's heart to another.
Furthermore, numerous studies have shown the scientific effects love has on both physical and mental reactions. According to the article, "What Falling in Love Does to Your Heart and Brain," the author implies,"The phrase 'love is blind' is a valid notion because we tend to idealize our partner and see only things that we want to see in the early stages of the relationship." Because some are blinded by the idea of love, their partner's behavior is of no consequence. Their thoughts are clouded by a fake image, blocking the true approach of a relationship. Therefore, love is only a chemical reaction, preventing teens and adults from having wise judgment.
Ultimately, love is an uncontrollable concept that leaves younger individuals bewildered. Because of the irrational choices made while blinded by one's affections for another, the two parties involved leave themselves open for potential heartbreak.

At first, when translating, Shakespeare's language and broad vocabulary confused our group a bit. Although reading and performing our section was uncomplicated, translating and analyzing was more challenging. However, as we looked up individual words that we did not understand, interpreting each section became more easy. Gradually, this different version of language seemed to become second nature. Analyzing the text also grew less difficult. As we continued to unravel Shakespeare's true intentions for the text, we finally could grasp the beauty and art of the language.

Shakespeare's uses prose, poetry, and figurative language uncountable times to enhance his play,
A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Shakespeare uses prose to show an individual's status. For example, Oberon, the king of all fairies, speaks in lines of ten syllables because he is the highest in social status. Nick Bottom, an average weaver, speaks in lines of any amount of syllables. Shakespeare uses poetry to make his plays more smooth. This makes his plays very interesting, but it takes a little more effort to comprehend. Lastly, Shakespeare uses figurative language for adding to the quality. It describes character in more detail. In conclusion, Shakespeare uses the prose, poetry, and figurative language to make his play ameliorate.
