Windblown sand or dunes
characterized this region's soils. The elevation in the Gulf Coast region was dissected by the stream and rivers flowing into the Gulf of Mexico. Deposition
Gulf Coast Prairie and Marshes
have soil like acid sands, sandy loams, and clay.
(Sandy loams and clay occur
in river bottoms). WED Affects Erosion Surface Water
Most of the water supplies used
are from rivers rather than
reservoirs. (The rivers supply fresh water so that supports
the state's coastal fishing industries). Ground Water
The Gulf Coast region uses heavy supplies
of ground water, but it has some problems
due to a phenomenon known as
"subsidence." Ground water is used to surface water supplies.

underwater. Dolphins use echolocation to
listen and to communicate to others. Communication Frogs have the ability to leap
and hop which can help get them
away from predators. Legs The frogs camouflage can help them
hide from predators and even hide when
trying to sneak up on prey. Camouflage Gulf Coast Toad Prairie Warbler Birds have different types of
beaks depending on how they
must use it. Some birds use their
beaks for gnawing on trees and more! Birds can also use their hair and
