Welcome to the We'd like to help you get to know how to get the most
out of visiting the library. Please take a few minutes to
walk through this tutorial to see some of the resources
and services we can offer you on site. Location, Location, Location The Ursula C. Schwerin Library is located on the 4th and 5th floors of the Atrium building. (insert map and image). The library entrance is on the 4th floor. Hours of Operation During the semester, the library is open Monday-Saturday. More information about library hours (including information about Summer Session, holiday hours and the hours of the library labs) is posted on our webpage, here:

Any unexpected changes to the library schedule are posted to the website, blog, facebook and twitter accounts as soon as possible.

The first thing you should do each semester is activate your library card. Your activated card will let you can check out materials from City Tech and CUNY libraries, access computers and printing services in the library, and log into electronic collections from home. A Quick Note About Conduct in the Library City Tech is a diverse and exciting community, and we work to make the library an accommodating, respectful and productive space for all of our users. To keep everything running smoothly, we ask library users to observe the following rules of conduct:

The library is a quiet space. Quiet conversation is permitted
on the 4th floor, but noise must be kept to a minimum.

Food and drinks are not permitted anywhere in the library.

Talking on cell phones is not permitted in the library.

The tables and desks on the 5th floor reserved for individual
study. Groups of three or more may reserve private study
rooms at the Circulation Desk (located on the 4th floor).

Users may not play audio on any device without the use of
headphones, and volume must be kept low enough not to
be heard by others. Activating Your Library Card How do you activate your library card? It's easy! Bring your City Tech ID card to the circulation desk with a copy of your schedule. It just takes a minute!

Are you a returning student and can't remember if you've activated your card this semester? Try logging in to your account, here:

(you can also use your online account to request or renew books) The Reference Desk Library's Service Areas The reference desk (to your right as you walk in) is staffed by a librarian at all times. Come to the reference desk with all of your questions and a librarian will help you find answers. The Circulation Desk The Circulation Desk is where you will go
to check out and return library materials,
and activate your library cards.

Checking out a book from the Reserve collection? Remember to have the call number ready before you reach the desk.

What's a call number, you ask? Learn how to locate books here:

http://library.citytech.cuny.edu/tutorials/findingbooks Multimedia Check out movies or audio resources in the Multimedia Resource Center. Information about hours and resources available can be found here:

http://library.citytech.cuny.edu/services/multimedia/index.php The Periodicals Desk can be found in the right rear corner of the first floor. Here you can check out newspapers, magazines and journals (be aware that many of these are only available online). This is also where you'll find the library's copy machines (copy cards must be purchased from the machines across from the reference desk.) Periodicals There are public computers available on the 4th floor of the library in the reference area and in the lab to the right of the entrance. To use these computers, you will need to sign in with your activated library card. City Tech users may print up to 25 pages a day in the library.
