Transcript of Sakurajima
Sakurajima is located in the Kagoshima Predecture within Kyushu, Japan. A recent eruption caused Kyushu to connect with the Osumi Peninsula. Sakurajima is in the southwest of japan the longitude and latitude is 31.5833° N, 130.6500° E
Type of volcano
Sakurajima is a stratovolcano. A stratovolcano is tall, steep and has explosive eruptions and Has a thick layer of lava that flows with high viscosity when erupted. BUt drys before spreading or getting near anything.
it was quiet and is usually classified as a level 4 eruption.

august 19,2013 erupted in southwest japan, and had coated a near by city with a layer of ash. The people in kagoshima had to wear rain coats and used umbrellas to protect themselve from the ash.
it did a total damage of killing more then 60 people and 12 wounded. THe cost fot the total damage was unknown, no website

Sakurajima formed about 13,ooo years ago as an island island off of the mainland of japan
the first recorded eruption was in 708 A.D.
