Welcome to

CSIR Institute of Genomics & Integrative Biology Institute of Genomics & Integrative Biology (IGIB) is a premier Institute of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), engaged in research of national importance in the areas of genomics, molecular medicine, bioinformatics, proteomics and environmental biotechnology. I.Genomics and Molecular Medicine
II.Respiratory Disease Biology
III.Genome Informatics and Structural Biology
IV.Energy and Environmental Biotechnology
V.Chemical & Systems Biology Mission "To translate concepts developed in basic biological research to commercially viable technologies for health care" A young and enthusiastic talent pool

An active network with medical Institutes for clinical studies

International and National funding support

State-of-the-art Infrastructure 1966-1977 Biochemicals Unit, a grant-in-aid unit of CSIR 1977-1992 CSIR-Centre for Biochemicals

Focus on chemical import substitute CSIR-Centre for Biochemical Technology

Focus on reverse engineering 2002 CSIR-Institute of Genomics & Integrative Biology Educating and Inspiring young minds........ CSIR-IGIB offers students and young researchers several avenues to kick-start their research career: Research Associate:

Research Associates, after completing their Ph.D, can either join CSIR projects (please refer to project assistant selection process for the same) or bring in their own Fellowship like the CSIR Research Associateship or DBT Post-Doctoral Fellowship Programme. Ph.D programme:

CSIR-IGIB conducts an annual selection process consisting of a written aptitude test followed by an interview, for Ph.D candidates. The course-work is designed to provide an orientation towards research, imbibe principles and methodology of doing research and familiarize the Ph.D students with the activities of the Institute. Project Assistants:

CSIR-IGIB conducts monthly interviews to select temporary project staff with qualifications ranging from Bachelors, Masters and Ph.D in different branches of science and medicine. Training
CSIR-IGIB provides training to students with good academic record as well as interest and aptitude to work at IGIB for partial fulfillment of their degree programme i.e M.Sc./B.Tech/M.Tech and other professional courses.
Two-months training for the students preferably with training fellowships from national academies such as JNCASR, INSA, IASc etc. This programme is available only during the summer months (May-June or June -July)
CSIR-IGIB also accepts limited number of trainees for 1 year or 6 months project training. Young Investigators

IGIB hosts and provides support to investigators with prestigious fellowships who wish to be mentored with established groups at IGIB through programs like Innovative Young Biotechnologist Award , Wellcome Trust-DBT India Alliance and the CSIR funded Nehru Fellowship.
