element. Nucleus: a positive charged center of an atom, which contains most of its mass. Subatomic Particles: Any various units of matter that are smaller than an atom, EXAM, protons, electrons, and neutrons Protons: a subatomic particle in the nucleus. has a positive charge. (+). Same mass of the neutrons. Neutrons: a subatomic particle in the nucleus. Has a neutral charge (o). Same mass of the protons. Electrons: Subatomic particles that are outside of the nucleus. Has a negative charge. (-) Elements: A chemical element is a whole chemical substance containing of one type of atom distinguished by its atomic number. Atomic number: the number of protons in the nucleus of an atom, this determines the chemical property for the periodic table. Mass number:The total number of protons and neutrons in a nucleus. ex: He: 4 (2 protons + 2 neutrons) Molecule: the smallest compound unit that
is made up of one or more atoms, held
together by chemical forces. Are the units that make up the compound. Compound: a thing that is made up of two or more separate elements, a mixture. Is the whole, made up of molecule. solution: is a homogenous mixture of two or more substance. example: koolade, Mixture: a substance made by mixing other substances. example:mixed nuts, something that can be physically separated. The formula for water: H2O 2 hydrogen elements and 1 oxygen, Glucose: C6H12O6 Hydrogen Oxygen Bohr model: atomic physics, the Bohr model, devised by Niels Bohr, positively charged nucleus surrounded by electrons that travel in circular orbits around the nucleus. 2/8/8 are the protons on the levels.
