Transcript of Drinking Age

No. Barry Sweedler disagrees. He shows in a study that in the 80's when the decline of alcohol related accidents was occuring globally the United States decreased less than other countries with a lower drinking age. He does not give enough information to know if this is reliable. 21 Purpose To explain to people why the drinking age should stay at age 21 Why 21? 21 is the perfect age for the drinking age to be at because having it set any younger would put the safety and well-being of Americans too much at risk. Who Says? Kim Fromme, Kathleen Brady, James Keller, and many more. Kim Fromme informed us that after the year the drinking age was increased from 18 to 21 in the United States, underage drinking decreased as well. Kathleen Brady showed us that those who drink and are under the age of 21 are more likely to binge drink. James Keller contributed to this study by showing us that when the drinking age was decreased to 18, 18-20 year olds were involded in 9% more car chrashed caused by alcohol. When the age was set back to 21 this percentage decreased by 7%. He also went on to tell us that 18-20 year olds are not old enough to drink responsibly. Does Everyone think this way? Why So Important? Underage drinking already causes hundreds of deaths each year. It is important that we let everybody know that this is NOT okay, and in doing so we can give American Citizens a better, safer future. Madison Overly
